The MF Lightning is one of those rare boards that never leaves your rack. Born from Mick Fanning’s original CT-winning DNA, this board carries the same world-class foundation — now refined for more spark, more speed, and more everyday fun.

Working with Darren Handley post-retirement, Mick fine-tuned the Lightning to be faster and looser in smaller, weaker surf, while still holding strong when the waves get punchy. It’s your go-to performance shortboard for 1–4 ft surf, combining flow, drive, and lightning-quick response.

For most surfers, order the same length as your everyday shortboard for the perfect balance of speed and control.

Board Breakdown

Rocker:
Same tail rocker as the DNA, but straightened between the feet for faster drive. Extra nose lift to fit tight in the pocket.

Concave:
Flatter under the front foot for instant acceleration; deep single concave between fins for lift and speed.

Outline:
Narrower squash tail with no hip for precise control; slightly pulled-in nose with extra flip for performance.

Foam & Rails:
Flattened deck packs more foam under the chest for paddling power, with lowered rails for sensitivity.

Fin Setup:
Rear fin moved forward ⅛" for tighter, faster turning in smaller waves.
